Corrientes Port Project
Re-engineering and modernisation of the port to cut regional logistics costs and double stowage capacity.
The project responds to unmet demand for efficient logistics services, caused by the lack of the port and rail infrastructure required to develop multimodal transport in the region.
The objective is to minimise logistics costs through the re-engineering of the Port of Corrientes and the modernisation of its equipment, generating new resources to expand capacity, streamline operations and improve service quality and profitability.
Stage I — estimated investment USD 3 million
- One pedestal crane for container loading and unloading to vessel
- One reachstacker
- Four forklifts of 2.5, 4, 7 and 9 tonnes
Stage II — estimated investment USD 4 million
- Construction of a dry port (bonded warehouse) for container consolidation outside the city
- Identification of a 10-hectare site, preliminary design of the main shed, offices and integrated services
- Purchase of container and package handling equipment
- Objective: expand the terminal area by moving consolidation to an external site
Stage III — estimated investment USD 2 million
- Demolition of the shed in the container storage area
- Upgrading of the berth and terminal pavements, doubling stowage capacity
- Expansion of the terminal onto transferred plots
- Objective: speed up operations and expand container flow capacity
