Integrated logistics for Vaca Muerta: critical supplies at the wellhead, last-mile platforms and a Pacific gateway.
The problem
Shale development in Neuquén, Mendoza, Río Negro and La Pampa consumes growing volumes of fracking sand, barite, bentonite, chemicals, fuels, drilling equipment, piping, valves and special tools. Traditional road, rail and port supply chains are overstretched, with delivery difficulties that worsen as operators raise planned output.
The answer
DEMSA is developing an integrated logistics scheme combining a Pacific gateway through Chilean ports, inland transport carried out exclusively by Argentine companies based in the region, and multi-logistics platforms in the productive heart of the play: Añelo and Fortín de Piedra, in the last-mile area where the fields of the main operators converge.
Commercial operations sit on top of that scheme: import of fracking sand, barite, bentonite, drilling chemicals and steel products, and representation of suppliers and service companies.
