Integrated Logistics Vaca Muerta – Asia Pacific

The development of the shale gas and shale oil fields in Neuquén, Mendoza, Río Negro and La Pampa —the world's second largest— has diversified the concept of logistics integrated into hydrocarbon production. Fracking consumes large volumes of sand, barite, bentonite, chemicals, fuels, drilling equipment, piping and special tools, all of which must reach the wellhead quickly.

Traditional road, rail and port supply chains are overstretched. Building on our experience in port operations and mining exports, DEMSA is developing an alternative scheme together with Chilean ports and logistics operators.

Port and logistics operations

Facing the Pacific opens the markets of China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and Australia, as well as ports in Peru, Colombia, Mexico, the US East Coast and the European Union. The scheme is anchored in Chile's Biobío region, which combines geographic position with port investment, and connects to Neuquén, Mendoza, San Juan, Salta and Jujuy.

Chile – Argentina inland transport

Containers, general cargo and project cargo between Chilean ports and the operating area in Vaca Muerta are moved exclusively by Argentine carriers based in Río Negro, Neuquén and Mendoza.
