San Pedro Port Project

In 2015, DEMSA applied to the San Pedro Port Management Consortium for the concession of Pier 2 under a Private Initiative. The area was conditionally assigned pending submission of the investment project and the requirements of article 8 of Provincial Decree 372/10.

The project comprises a new storage cell on Pier 2 with capacity for 80,000 tonnes of bulk cargo, a barge berth on the dock and a new ocean berth with its loading, unloading and conveying equipment, connected to the existing berth on Pier 1. It also covers dredging and engineering works and the cargo required to recover the investment.

New San Pedro Transhipment Terminal

In January 2016, DEMSA submitted to the Provincial Directorate of Islands and Sustainable Tourism Development its project for a new transhipment terminal on Dos de Oro island, located on the access channel to the Port of San Pedro.

On 16 hectares, the design includes a dry industrial bulk storage area with internal conveyor movements, an ocean berth adjacent to the access channel with 34 ft alongside depth, a barge berth on the Dos de Oro creek for two barges simultaneously, and storage tanks. Large volumes of bulk cargo from Bolivia, Paraguay and southern Brazil are expected along the Paraná–Paraguay waterway in the coming years.
