Timbúes Agro-industrial Terminal

An agro-industrial complex with ocean and barge berths on the Paraná, designed for 5.5 million tonnes a year in the Greater Rosario industrial belt.

Sector
Ports · Agribusiness
Period
2016 – 2018
Location
Timbúes, Santa Fe · Paraná River
Scale
82 ha · 5.5 M t/year

The project's goal was to build an agro-industrial complex comprising a port with ocean-going vessel berths and barge unloading, a truck yard and unloading platforms, conveyor belts and loading equipment, with the type of storage —flat storage or silos— left to each investor.

Location

Timbúes sits on National Route 11, 11 km from San Lorenzo, 7 km from Puerto General San Martín and 35 km from Rosario, within the Greater Rosario industrial belt.

Site characteristics

  • 82 hectares with municipal approval for port, agro-industrial and logistics activities
  • Approximately 700 m of river frontage with a direct bank onto the Paraná and 40 ft natural draft, suitable for ocean-going vessels
  • Shoreline suitable for a barge berth and simultaneous unloading operations
  • Close to the area's barge moorings
  • Paved road access up to the site entrance
  • 4,000 m from the Belgrano Cargas railway connection

Design

The layout includes a 14-hectare common port services area —truck yards, sampling, weighbridges, unloading, offices and workshops—, a barge unloading berth, a loading berth and conveyor belts serving ten 6.8-hectare plots, where each buyer defines the storage type and investment required.

Location, road, river and rail access, the hinterland and the site's geography give the project a strategic advantage, reflected in its proximity to the large neighbouring agro-industrial terminals.
